Harrie Keville was appointed to the Dayton Fire Department on September 29, 1925.

On August 7, 1937, Dayton experienced a torrential downpour, one of the heaviest rain falls on record at the time.  The rain estimated at 4 inches, flooded streets and halted traffic in many places.  It caused numerous accidents, flooded basements as well as many other problems.   Lightening struck many business and private homes.   During the storm, Fireman Keville was responding to a run at W. Third and Northhampton Ave. on Engine 2 where lightening had followed the electric wiring into the house causing a minor fire.

Enroute, the engine skidded on the street car tracks on W. Third St. and side-swiped three parked cars throwing Keville and another fireman from the rear where they were standing.  Both were taken to Miami Valley Hospital by Police Ambulance.  Fireman Keville died a short time later.  He was 38 years old.  The other firefighter recovered.

He is buried in Calvary Cemetery.

According to the OAPFF, they are experiencing problems with non-members acquiring our OAPFF/IAFF license plates. The OAPFF is currently working on a more secure process for our members to obtain the OAPFF license plate, in the interim, requests for the documents that are required to obtain the Professional Firefighter license plate should be made through the Local President. We hope the members understand that this is simply a step in ensuring the law enforcement community, the public as well as our membership that those who choose to display the IAFF license plate are truly Ohio's Professional Firefighters.
